Active Schools Report: 2014-2015 3213w

Across each academic year, the Active Schools Network of managers and coordinators gather information on the activities which they have ed in schools. This data is used to the planning and delivery of the Active Schools programme. 2i4c5l

At the end of each academic year, this information is collated into a report, which summarises the activity across Scotland.

In the 2014/15 academic year, over 20,000 deliverers (86% of whom are voluntary/over 17,500 Volunteers), provided 333,000 Activity Sessions in range of over 100 different sports/activities.

Pupils made 6.1 million visits (participant sessions*) to these sessions across the year. There were 21,000 links between schools and sports clubs, helping pupils to participate in sport outwith their school. See full report below for further details.

*Participant Sessions are the "visits" pupils have made to activities. These figures do not represent the number of pupils who actually take part, and should only be considered as indicative of participation in extra-curricular activities ed by Active Schools.

If you are looking to find out more about a specific local authority’s figures we recommend ing the local Active Schools manager directly.

There are no set comparator authorities for the Active Schools data. Education Scotland do have a list of suggested comparator areas for each local authority, which may be helpful as Active Schools is based in the school environment. Please note: the structure of Active Schools can vary between local authorities, which may make these comparators less useful.
